Sandy Treme

Sandy Treme is currently serving her seventh term (since 1992) as a member of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury. A democrat, she is a broker and notary public and is self-employed as owner of Tall Pines Realty. A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Baton Rouge, she attended Louisiana State University.

Mrs. Treme has lived in DeQuincy since 1945 and is a member of First Baptist Church in DeQuincy. She is a member and Past President of the DeQuincy Rotary Club, a McNeese Partner, was appointed by the Governor’s Office to serve as a member of the Delta Service Board representing Southwest Louisiana, and former member of the Advisory Board of the Calcasieu Parish Community Clinic, Board of Directors of the Calcasieu Council on Aging, Inc., as well as the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Organization.

Mrs. Treme was named by the Lake Charles Diocese as Public Official of the Year for which she received the prestigious Lawrence Toups Memorial Award, and she was also awarded the J.G. Vinson Award by

the DeQuincy Rotary Club.

Since her election in 1992, Mrs. Treme served as the Police Jury’s Vice-President in 1994 and in 1998, she became Calcasieu’s first woman Police Jury President. Mrs. Treme was elected Vice-President for the year 2015. She currently serves on numerous Police Jury committees.

Mrs. Treme is the Jury’s liaison to the Calcasieu Parish Public Trust Authority, Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitors Bureau, West Calcasieu Community Center Authority, Louisiana Sabine River Authority, Creole Nature Trail Scenic Byway District, Calcasieu Parish Library Board, Calcasieu Human Services Advisory Board, Animal Services Advisory Committee, and City of DeQuincy, as well as various special service districts governing recreation, gravity drainage, waterworks, and fire protection.

Mrs. Treme served as President of the Louisiana Police Jury Association for the year 2009 and has long served as Chairman of the Association’s Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Committee. In addition, Mrs. Treme was appointed by the Association to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Parochial Employees’ Retirement System of Louisiana. She was previously appointed by former Governor Mike Foster to serve on behalf of the Police Jury Association on the State Parks and Recreation Commission.

She is a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo) and serves on NACo’s Energy and Land Use Steering Committee.

Mrs. Treme is married to H. E. "Butch” Treme, and they have two daughters and seven grandchildren. They reside in DeQuincy.
