Riley Berthelot, Jr.
Riley Berthelot, Jr., better known as "Peewee”, is presently serving his fourth consecutive term as the West Baton Rouge Parish President where he oversees the day to day operations of the parish. He has held public office since 1989 and was formerly a local business owner/operator before accepting the full time position of Parish President in 2004. In 2016, he was elected to the Executive Board of the Police Jury Association as the representative for Region III.
Berthelot strives to stay abreast of the ever changing legislation and key issues that affect West Baton Rouge Parish, its local business and industry community as well as issues that affect our region. He regularly communicates with the Congressional Delegation as well as state and local leaders in search of solutions to challenging issues such as the critical need for improved infrastructure and transportation systems.
He is the Chairman of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Planning Organization, Chairman of the Capital Region Planning Commission, and Chairman of the W.B.R. Transportation Authority. He works to ensure the priorities of West Baton Rouge Parish are considered when discussing top priorities for the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area.
Peewee has been married to his wife Susie for over forty-three years. They reside in Addis and have two sons and four grandchildren. They are members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and are active in the community.
In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fishing, spending time on his cattle ranch or attending one of the many activities or sporting events that his grandchildren participate in.
