Jerry Red, Jr.
St. Landry Parish
Councilman Jerry L. Red, Jr. is a native of Opelousas Louisiana and a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish.
He is a graduate of Opelousas Sr. High School and attended LSU-E for accounting. He also continued his education at the school for Theology. Mr. Red, Jr., also received numerous awards in electronics and this year in February he was inducted into the NAUW Hall of Fame for 2020.
Jerry Red, Jr., is the proud father of four children, April, Jerry III, Caleb Micah and Kristin. He has five grandchildren, and he is overwhelmingly waiting for the arrival of another grandson in a few months.
Mr. Red, Jr., is currently employed by Opelousas Family Worship Center as a Minister. He is also a Bus Driver for the School Family Worship Christian Academy, and he is the former owner of Red's Transportation.
Jerry Red, Jr., is currently serving in his 4th term on the Parish Council. He served as
Chairman for three years and Vice-Chairman for four years.
He is currently serving his first year on the Executive Board as a Member At Large. Nationally he serves on the NACo Board as an Arts and Culture Member, two years as Vice Chair, currently on the Resilient Committee, two years on the New Membership, and he is also serving on the Program and Service Standing Committee. Mr. Red considers himself a blessing to serve in all capacities that he serves and a blessing to meet the needs of helping people in all areas and in all walks of life. Mr. Red looks forward to working with you.
