Emory A.
Belton, Jr. is an attorney, having received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1989
from LSU’s
Paul M. Hebert Law Center. Mr. Belton received a Bachelor of Science Degree in
General Business from Nicholls State University in 1986, graduating Magna Cum
Laude. Mr. Belton was a member of the Honor Fraternities Phi Kappa Phi, and Beta
Gamma Sigma.
Mr. Belton has over 20 years
of experience, working primarily in the energy and governmental sectors. He has
extensive experience in all issues concerning the energy industry, particularly
regulated electric and gas utilities, oil and gas exploration and production,
refining and marketing, natural gas processing, pipelines, oil and gas leasing
and development, property and real estate related issues, and royalty payment
issues.
Emory
served for over 10 years as Senior Regulatory Legal Counsel and Senior
Governmental Affairs Executive with Entergy Corporation. Prior to Entergy,
Entergy was an Assistant Attorney General with the Louisiana Department of
Justice for 10 years serving as General Counsel for the Louisiana State Mineral
Board for 6 years . Early in his career, Emory was a Company Landman with Exxon
Company, USA in Houston, TX.
Mr. Belton has a historical
network of key contacts and friendships in the energy industry, federal, state,
and local government, and using his legal, lobbying, and regulatory experience.
He will oversee all legal matters pertaining to the Police Jury Association and
its members as well as serve as a lobbyist and liaison to the Parish Attorney's
Association.
