JP & CONSTABLE

STATE SUPPLEMENTAL PAY

 

Pursuant to Act No. 96 of 2005, JP & Constable State Supplemental Pay will be processed through the parish.  In order improve the processing of JP & Constable State Supplemental Pay all Parishes need to implement the following:

 

1.     Identify the eligible JP’s and Constable in your parish

2.     Calculate the Employer portion of withholding associated with the $75 monthly supplemental pay provided by the State.  NOTE: State Supplemental Pay for JP’s and Constable is not included when determining Workers Compensation or PERS contributions. 

3.     Fax to the Dept. of Public Safety (225-925-3973) an invoice setting forth the individual contribution for each JP and Constable and the aggregate amount of those contributions.

4.     Complete and fax the Electronic Funds Transfer authorization as well.  Each Parish should have received a copy of the EFT Authorization Form with the January State Supplemental Pay.  This will facilitate the automatic deposit of the funds on the last work-day of each month.  NOTE: The State pays at the end of the month for the preceding month.
