1. Support legislation that would allow parishes
statewide to utilize their parish website as their Official Journal; and
further request the Louisiana Police Jury Association to support said
legislation.
2. Support the position that the Louisiana Department of
Natural Resources immediately begin the use of rock jetties in the protection
and rebuilding efforts for the Barrier Islands of coastal Louisiana.
3. Object to the passage of House Rule No. 2421, The Clean
Water Restoration Act of 2007.
4. Urge Congress to fund Mineral Management Services for
the study and collection of data on oil and gas inventory reserves in areas
currently under moratoria.
5. Urge the Bond Commission to reprioritize GO ZONE
project approvals.
6. Request that the Police Jury Association of Louisiana
work with the Association of Levee Boards of Louisiana to jointly lobby at the
next Legislative Session to increase the funding for the Statewide Flood
Control Program from its current $10 million level.
7. Urge the Louisiana Legislature amend the law to require that candidates qualifying for elective office
to be subject to a criminal background check in sufficient time to disallow
convicted felons from appearing on the ballot.

this resolution to request that the Louisiana Legislature amend the law to increase the contract limit
for public work to $200,000.
10. Urge the Louisiana
Legislature to amend the law to authorize the maximum monthly salary for
members of a police jury not exceed $1600.00 per month and to further authorize
the maximum additional monthly salary for the president of the police jury not
exceed $400.00 in addition to the salary established for members of the police
jury.
11. Urge the Louisiana Legislature in the planned 2nd Extraordinary
Session of 2008 to appropriate surplus funds to the Parish Transportation Fund,
and the
12. Urge the Louisiana Legislature to propose an amendment
to Art. VII § 4(D) of the Louisiana Constitution to increase the maximum amount
of the severance tax on all natural resources other
than sulphur, lignite, or timber that shall be remitted to the governing
authority of the parish in which severance or production occurs to $2,850,000.
