Police Jury Association of Louisiana Region VI Meeting:
New President Elected
Elected
and appointed officials from nine parishes gathered on October 31, 2007, for a
meeting at The Bluffs in St. Francisville. West Feliciana
parish hosted the meeting for members of the Police Jury Association. In addition to West Feliciana Parish, Region
VI includes Livingston, Ascension, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, St.
Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington.
Dr.
Charles Nassauer of Washington Parish was elected
Region VI President for the upcoming year.
Also during the meeting, Bobby Cortez of Tangipahoa Parish was elected
Vice President, and Gordon Burgess was elected as the Region VI Police Jury
Association of Louisiana Executive Board Member. Furthermore, Sharon Lyons of Washington
Parish is the new Secretary for Region VI.
Region
VI President Bert Babers III presided over the
meeting. Bro. Larry Andrews of Rosemound Baptist
Church gave the
invocation followed by Bert Babers III with the
Pledge of Allegiance. Richard Billings,
Police Jury Association President from Rapides Parish, addressed those in
attendance of the meeting offering best wishes to the public officials in a
run-off election and congratulations to those who won in recent elections. A report on Tembec was given by Dan
Alexander, Executive Vice President. The
guest speaker was Stephen Moret, President and CEO of
the Baton Rouge Area Chamber. Moret announced the goals and current projects of the
chamber. Roland Dartez,
Executive Director of the Police Jury Association, thanked officials and
special guests for a great year in the legislature and for their continued
support and involvement.
