Police Jury Association of Louisiana Region IV
Meeting:
New President Elected
Elected
and appointed officials from 10 parishes gathered on September 7, 2007, for a
meeting at the Railroad Depot in Arcadia, LA.
Bienville parish hosted the meeting for members of the Police Jury
Association. Region IV parishes include
Bienville, Lincoln, Bossier, Natchitoches, Caddo, Red River, Claiborne, Sabine,
DeSoto, and Webster.
At
the meeting, Wayne Williams of DeSoto Parish was elected President of Region
IV. Also, Jessie Davis of Red River was
elected Vice President. A. W. McDonald,
the current Region IV Executive Board Member, is not seeking re-election, so
Bill Altimus of Bossier Parish was elected to serve in the position held by
McDonald.
Region
IV President Ben Wiggins of Bienville Parish presided over the meeting. District 13 State Representative Jim Fannin
gave the invocation followed by Wayne Williams of DeSoto Parish with the Pledge
of Allegiance. Rep. Fannin was also the
guest speaker. He declared that roads, economic development and the State
Construction Code should be the top issues of the next legislature.
Richard
Billings, Police Jury Association President from Rapides Parish reflected on
his year as president in his address to the guests in attendance. Also, Roland Dartez, Executive Director of
the Police Jury Association stressed the importance of local government
involvement and thanked officials and special guests for legislature triumphs
during the previous session. He also
thanked them for their continued support and involvement.
