Ø       Louisiana Government Assistance Program

$10 Million was allocated within HB 2-Act 27 of the 2006 Regular legislative session for a state grant program to be administered by the Division of Administration's Office of Community Development.  Click on this link for eligible applicants, activities and a grant application.  http://www.doa.louisiana.gov/cdbg/lgap.htm

 

Applications will be mailed out in August, 2006 to all eligible local governments and a deadline for applications to be submitted to OCD will be December 1, 2006. Ø      Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants

Description

The Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act (“Brownfields Law” or “the Law”, P.L. 107-118) requires the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to publish guidance to assist applicants in preparing proposals for grants to address brownfield sites. This Law defines a brownfield site as “real property, the expansion, redevelopment, or reuse of which may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant, or contaminant,” as defined in the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 §101(39), as amended (CERCLA). The Law further defines the term “brownfield site” to include a site that “is contaminated by a controlled substance...; is contaminated by petroleum or a petroleum product excluded from the definition of ‘hazardous substance’...; is mine-scarred land.”

Eligible Applicants:  Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized), Parish governments, Others (see text field entitled "Additional Information on Eligibility" for clarification), City or township governments, State governments, Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education

Economic Development Administration Assistance Program

This grant will fund projects in four categories including local technical assistance and planning assistance to regional development districts and to public works investments. Geographic information system (GIS) technology is central to economic development, assisting in planning for development, marketing sites, and programs.

Description: This grant funds programs that use innovative GIS and GPS applications to produce and enhance property inventory and encourage the redevelopment of vacant or abandoned properties in the United States. Applicants must show how this technology will lead to increased efficiency in collecting data and increased productivity in the delivering of services.
